AVID Resources
Cornell Notes: Cornell Notes are an integral part of the AVID program, and it is the preferred method of note-taking for AVID students. Research shows that Cornell Notes are a more effective method of note-taking because the process requires students to revisit the notes multiple times, which in turn, assists in keeping the information in long-term, rather than short-term, memory.
Tutorial Request Form (TRF): During tutorials, the AVID elective class is divided into small groups. Under the direction and supervision of the AVID elective teacher, an AVID-trained tutor facilitates the student-led discussions at each group to help students find the answer to a question, problem, project, or any other school-work related points of confusion they may have.
