About
For the past 18 years, I have strive to educate both the mind and souls of my students in the classroom and on the football field. Thus, I have been blessed with the opportunity to take on several leadership roles. Currently, I am the Director of Student and Community Opportunities and Head Varsity Football Coach at Western School of Science and Technology 7th-12 Public Charter School in the neighborhood of Maryvale in Phoenix, Arizona. My role consists of those of a Dean of Students, Athletic Director, and Community Director. I manage the safety and discipline of the students and manage all extracurricular activities such as sports and clubs. Aside from my work with students, I also work with the parents and community organizing parent programs, workshops, and school events. Before my work at Western School of Science and Technology, I had the opportunity to be the middle school lead teacher, athletic director, and football coach, in addition to my social studies and science teaching responsibilities at Imagine Camelback Middle School. Most of my education career took place in the Diocese of Phoenix. I had the opportunity to teach at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School where I also had leadership roles such as student council moderator and athletic director, in addition to my social studies and science teaching responsibilities. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to teach physical education, Spanish, and religion at St. Catherine of Siena. As a member of the Diocese, I was invited to participate in the Latino Enrollment Institute at Notre Dame University, in which we created a program to recruit and retain students at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School. I have been part of different schools and district throughout my years in education such as Country Place Elementary, Tolleson High School, Cesar Chavez High School, and Desert Edge High School.
I truly believe in the opportunities that Education and Athletics can provide. Education and Athletics have allowed me to accomplish many of my dreams and goals. I had the opportunity to play football at Phoenix College, received my Associate then transfer to Arizona State University where I received my Bachelor’s in Education. I was able to receive my Master’s Degree in Education Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from the University of Mary in May.
I am grateful for the education I have received in Arizona. I am extremely grateful for the educators and coaches that have motivated me to succeed. I would not be here today if it was not for them. The teachers, coaches, and professors I have had are great leaders who motivate and encourage students to pursue their dreams and I wish to do the same for my students. I currently finished my school board training with All In Education, through the “Listo” program and because of it, I am currently part of the Pioneer Preparatory Academy School Board and Chair of the Canyon Athletic Association Multicultural Committee.
